Some say my death was an accident. Some say it was suicide. I say, it was just my way out of the labyrinth: straight and fast.
The colonel and I sat on the floor drinking strawberry wine. Nothing new. Just the same old stuff. I looked over at pudge who was sitting on my bunk bed looking lost in thought.
I was quickly losing myself to the alcohol. Colonel was pretty much lost. Pudge, I think he was still there.
"Hey pudge, want to play truth or dare with me and the colonel?" I asked.
"Huh?" Pudge asked snapping out of his thoughts. "Never played."
I gasped. "What? Never? Oh then it's a must!"
Pudge came and joined the colonel and I. We sat in a little triangle.
"Alright, pudge, truth or dare?" I asked looking at him.
"Um... Dare." He said.
I smirked. "Alright. Hook up with me."
And so we did.
I was too wasted to remember that I had a boyfriend. All I know is that pudge was there, and so was I, so it just seemed like a fun thing to do.
We laid on the floor and made out. The colonel just sat by the wall drinking more strawberry wine, also too wasted to really know what was going on.
Pudge stopped for a moment and looked at me. "What about jake?"
"Shhh." I said putting a finger on his lips before kissing him again.
Eventually I moved my hands to his chest and pushed him upward. "This is fun, but I'm just so sleepy. To be continued?" I kissed him again before rolling on my side and falling asleep.
At around three A.M. I woke up to the pay phone ringing in the hallway. I got up and went to answer it.
"Hello?"
"Happy anniversary." The voice said.
"Jake! I'm so happy you called!" I said with a smile.
We talked for a while. Jake lived in Nashville while I was stuck in Alabama. It wasn't bad here, I just wished I could see him more.
I doodled white daisies on the floor while I walked to him.
Daisies. They reminded me of my mom. Wait. My mom.
"Shit shit shit." I said bursting into tears. "I have to go." I said hanging up the pay phone and running back into my room.
The colonel and pudge were still asleep so I woke them up.
"I have to go now!" I said still sobbing.
"What? Alaska what's wrong?" Pudge asked getting up.
"I just have to go!" I yelled. "Help me sneak out!"
So the colonel and pudge got the firecrackers and went to distract the school watchman while I snuck out to the school parking lot.
I was still drunk and still sobbing as I got in my car and drove off.
My mother died 8 years ago from that day, and I forgot. I couldn't take one moment out of my whole day to go say something to her. Luckily I had white tulips that jake had sent me in my trunk.
God. Why was I so screwed up? I cheated on my boyfriend, was the reason my mom died, got my roommate expelled, broke pretty much every possible school rule, let down my dad, and put my friends in danger.
This all had to end. I can't do it anymore.
I saw a police car parked in the road up ahead.
Now was my chance to escape the labyrinth. Straight and fast.
I slammed my foot on the gas and sped straight for the police car.
I felt the steering wheel slam into my chest.
And then nothing.
